Hi friends! Monique Lowe here sharing a new colorful layout to awaken your inner rainbow! I’m thrilled to be sharing my first project using Paige’s beautiful new collection called Adventurous! It was perfect for documenting sweet seaside memories and beautifully complemented by Paige's Sunburst and Waves Circle cut files.
To start, I used Paper 15 to cut the Sunburst cut file. With a pair of scissors, I snipped it in half and layered these two pieces on top of each other. I then placed them on the top half of a piece of White Foundations Media Paper. I used this placement to guide a single curve of chain link stitch with white thread as well as a splash of colorful mixed media. I used Shimmerz paints to add a watercolor pool of sunset colors to the white embroidery thread and the background. Using Mini Distress Ink Pads, I added swipes of color behind the Sunburst. Next, I used white cardstock to cut the Waves Circle and again used a pair of scissors to snip it in half. I placed this on the bottom half of my layout, creating a full circle with the Sunburst and blended some Distress Oxides around the edge. Instead of backing the cut file, I added wave pieces on top using Paper 23 and Paper 24, distressing and curling up the edges for texture. Now to add my photos and embellishments! I backed both my photos with vellum and off cuts of Paper 15. Using beautiful Floral Die Cuts, I created three clusters around my photos and along the edge of my circular background. I added in a fun signpost Chipboard Shape, along with a tab and text piece from the Ephemera Die Cuts. I fussy cut Paper 19 and Paper 1 to add in tone-on-tone butterflies and a ‘happy little moments’ text piece. A sweet title using the Puffy Phrase Stickers was the perfect finishing touch! At this point, my layout didn’t feel quite finished so I trimmed it slightly, distressed the edges, and machine stitched it onto the B-side of Paper 15. The bright yellow trim really lifted the layout and added an extra dose of sunny joy! Creating with lots of color is my favorite thing to do and Adventurous ticks all my joyful, color boxes!
