Hello spooky and scrappy friends! Phil Donahue here back on Paige's blog with a spooky season inspired layout featuring her Tricks & Treats collection and the Moon, Clouds, Stars cut file! This layout features photos from a trip to Salem, MA of the Elizabeth Montgomery Statue. The Bewitched statue was the perfect theme to pair with this spooktacular collection and bewitching cut file!
To begin, I found the perfect shade of orange cardstock from the Adventurous12x12 Project Pad to match the Tricks & Treats collection and cut the Moon, Clouds, Stars file. I backed the clouds and moon with vellum and the stars with purple, white, and silver glitter paper from my stash. The stars and moons pattern of Paper 3 made for the perfect backdrop for the photos so it served as the full background of the layout. I adhered the cut file to the paper using adhesive foam squares to create more depth and dimension. Next, I framed the photos with frames from the 12x12 Foam Stickers, created my title with the Mini Foam Thickers, and added accents from the Ephemera Die Cuts. Final touches were flurries of chipboard and foam silver stars all around the page to complete the layout! I hope you found some inspiration in this layout and choose to try Paige's Tricks & Treats collection along with the Moon, Clouds, Stars cut file! Thanks for stopping by and have a BOO-dacious spooky season!
To begin, I cut the Bats Border from white cardstock and chose Paper 2 for my background. I had some mixed media in mind so I prepped the B-side with a coat of clear gesso. I then scrapped on a thin layer of white gesso in the area where I would be placing the cut file. This softened the black spotty pattern a little, allowing the mixed media and cut file to shine. Using a selection of Distress Oxides, I swiped them across the background then dabbed on some water to loosen the colors and blend them together. I added coordinating ink splatters and a few shimmery gray watercolor splashes. Once my mixed media was dry, I stuck the unbacked Bats Border directly onto the background. Instead of backing the cut file, I cut the bat inners from Paper 3, Paper 7, Paper 9, and Paper 11, placing them tone-on-tone on the background. I also cut some bats from vellum, placed a few on top of the colorful bats, and dotted some around the page for subtle interest. For a touch of texture, I added a single cross stitch to the center of each colorful bat. I backed my two black and white photos using Paper 12 and tucked them in amongst the bats. I added in a frame and tab from the Ephemera Die Cuts along with Cardstock Stickers and 12x12 Foam Stickers. The Puffy Phrase Thickers had the perfect title for my two contrasting photos – Sweet &Spooky! To finish off my layout, I distressed the right-hand side, rolled it inwards, and stapled it in place. I added a strip of Paper 4 behind this for a little peek at this contrasting black paper. Thank you so much for stopping by to have a look at my new layout using Tricks & Treats collection and the Bats Border from the 13 Halloween Cut Files! I hope something you have seen inspires you to scrap those sweet & spooky memories too! Happy Scrapping Friends!
Hi friends! Kelly Daye here and I know you were as excited as we were to create with Paige’s bootiful Tricks & Treats collection! Like a spooky ghost, it disappeared from shops before our very eyes!
For this layout I cut out Paige’s Spiderweb from the 13 Halloween Cut Files from white cardstock. I switched things up on this project and instead of paper backing a cut file, I used it as a stencil! With a few Distress Oxides and blending brushes, I stenciled a colorful Spiderweb on the top right of my background. For the opposite corner, I stitched a torn diagonal half of Paper 1. This is definitely a labor of love, but the more of it you stitch, the more in love you’ll be. Of course when I discovered two black cats in this collection, my layout had to feature my own black cats, Blossom and Petals. If you recall, we lost sweet Blossom in April of this year, but I just couldn’t leave her out. In the feature collage, you’ll find: Floral Die Cuts, Ephemera Die Cuts, Mini Puffy Stickers, Foam Stickers, Cardstock Stickers, and Enamel Dots. Did you notice the shaker tucked in? I used one of the frames in the Ephemera Die Cuts. You get six frames in the package along with sixty-four more bits of fun! My title was made with the Puffy Phrase Thickers. I used ‘Spooktacular’ but swapped out Spook for an ‘a’ and ‘c’ from other words. I sewed the letters onto a banner I made from acetate and Washi Tape. To give it a more pronounced presence, I added polka dot washi, a witch hat, and a potion bottle, all from the Cardstock Stickers. Of course, my sweet kit-cat photos got a little embellished too. I’ve added index tabs from the Ephemera Die Cuts, Mini Foam Thickers, and the iridescent BOO from the Mini Puffy Stickers. Finally, I sprinkled spiders around, stitching a dangly thread for two of them to bounce in on. OMGee, freak me out, LOL! I hope you found inspiration here today! Here’s my tricks and tips: Paige's cut files make great stencils, get more than one pack of Puffy Phrase Thickers so you can make up your own titles, and add action on your layouts by adding a stitched path, like for the spiders (also works for butterflies, bee’s airplanes, cars and more)!
