Spooktacular Layout by Kelly Daye

Hi friends! Kelly Daye here and I know you were as excited as we were to create with Paige’s bootiful Tricks & Treats collection! Like a spooky ghost, it disappeared from shops before our very eyes!
For this layout I cut out Paige’s Spiderweb from the 13 Halloween Cut Files from white cardstock. I switched things up on this project and instead of paper backing a cut file, I used it as a stencil! With a few Distress Oxides and blending brushes, I stenciled a colorful Spiderweb on the top right of my background. For the opposite corner, I stitched a torn diagonal half of Paper 1. This is definitely a labor of love, but the more of it you stitch, the more in love you’ll be. Of course when I discovered two black cats in this collection, my layout had to feature my own black cats, Blossom and Petals. If you recall, we lost sweet Blossom in April of this year, but I just couldn’t leave her out. In the feature collage, you’ll find: Floral Die CutsEphemera Die CutsMini Puffy StickersFoam StickersCardstock Stickers, and Enamel Dots. Did you notice the shaker tucked in? I used one of the frames in the Ephemera Die Cuts. You get six frames in the package along with sixty-four more bits of fun! My title was made with the Puffy Phrase Thickers. I used ‘Spooktacular’ but swapped out Spook for an ‘a’ and ‘c’ from other words. I sewed the letters onto a banner I made from acetate and Washi Tape. To give it a more pronounced presence, I added polka dot washi, a witch hat, and a potion bottle, all from the Cardstock Stickers. Of course, my sweet kit-cat photos got a little embellished too. I’ve added index tabs from the Ephemera Die CutsMini Foam Thickers, and the iridescent BOO from the Mini Puffy Stickers. Finally, I sprinkled spiders around, stitching a dangly thread for two of them to bounce in on. OMGee, freak me out, LOL! I hope you found inspiration here today! Here’s my tricks and tips: Paige's cut files make great stencils, get more than one pack of Puffy Phrase Thickers so you can make up your own titles, and add action on your layouts by adding a stitched path, like for the spiders (also works for butterflies, bee’s airplanes, cars and more)!
