Pumpkin Wreath Layout by Audrey Mutschall

Tuesday, November 12, 2024

Audrey Mutschall here with a fall layout featuring Paige’s Pumpkin Wreath and her Tricks & Treats and Adventurous collections!
I started by cutting the Pumpkin Wreath from white cardstock and backing the pumpkins with plaid Paper 7. I glued most of the pumpkins directly to the back of the cut file and then used foam tape to stick a few of them beneath the cut file. This creates depth and shadows, which adds interest to an otherwise flat cut file. When the cut file was completely backed I chose a few places to adhere layered pumpkins. I created these by simply cutting four pumpkins of the same color, folding them in half, and then gluing the back sides to each other. When they fan out, they make cute little dimensional pumpkins! Next I spent some time stitching three flowers from the Embroidery Kit and then arranging them at the bottom of the pumpkin wreath. I stuck everything down on a white background splattered lightly with black acrylic paint and then embellished with Enamel Dots. I mounted my photo on a pink patterned paper from the Adventurous Boxed Cards and tucked it into the right side of the wreath. I added a title using one of the Puffy Phrase Stickers and Mini Alpha Thickers and then embellished with a few flowers and leaves from the Floral Die Cuts.

Apple Bushel Layout by Ashley Neu

Monday, November 11, 2024

Hi friends! It’s Ashley Neu here for the Paige Evans Cut File Design Team to share my next layout which features Blooming Wild along with the Apple Bushel cut file!
After cutting the Apple Bushel from white cardstock, I used the 12x12 Paper Pad and some corrugated cardstock from my stash to back the bucket and leaves. I had 4 photos that I wanted to place on this layout so I loved that I was able to incorporate them into the cut file. I created the title with the combination of a Chipboard Sticker that says ‘Sweet’ and the Mini Thickers that I spelled out ‘FALL’. I used Paper 5 to create some grassy hills and a cloud die from my stash to put some clouds in the sky. I finished the layout with silver hearts found in the Cardstock Stickers.

Tricks & Treats Weekend Recap

Sunday, November 10, 2024

On Saturday November 9th & Sunday November 10th 2024, Andrea and I taught our 5th in-person event here in Colorado called Tricks & Treats Weekend!
Right after our Sugarplum Wishes Weekend in November 2023 we began preparing for this event. We sold out once again and counted down the days!
Of course, Colorado provided the "tricks" and we provided the "treats"!
Normally it snows the day before Halloween. It did not do that this year. Instead, Mother Nature waited until two days and the day before people were to travel here to dump the 11th biggest snowstorm in Colorado history. Awesome. I think about 5 people ended up not being able to come due to canceled flights which is much fewer than I anticipated. Way to go Denver International Airport for keeping everything going even in the bad weather. Instead of driving to Thornton on Friday to set up, drive home, then drive back early Saturday for the event like I have done all the previous events, I was watching the snow fall out my office window and when it started sticking at 10am I booked it to the hotel and stayed the night.
I arrived safe and sound and we began setting up!
It was Andrea's birthday the day before and Valorie bought her a delicious cake. This event was also super special because Andrea's mom came to help.
Schedule of events:
One of my favorite traditions is the balloon arch photo op. We took pics while we were still fresh and ready in the morning.
BOO!
Love this lady sooooo much! She's soooooo talented and a great partner in scrappy crime! :)
We opened the doors at 9am sharp on Saturday morning and people came in to pick a spot, go shopping, and make new scrappy friends.
Ready, set, create!!
In my first class of the day we learned how to create this 4x4 Halloween mini album. You can purchase the class PDF HERE.
The album holds 127+ pictures and includes 30 spreads/60 pages! It's a chonky little thing!
We added a lot of custom creations to the kits including these BOOtiful charms by Emily Inspired Designs.
During lunch my family dropped in! I've never asked them to come to one of my events before so it was really really fun to show everyone that they really exist :)
Chris took the group photos. 100+ scrappy friends in attendance!
Onto my second class!
We made five 12x12 layouts and a double-page spread. Or at least started them ;) You can purchase the layout class PDF HERE.
We basically killed the kit, hardly anything left if you make all my projects and all of Andrea's projects with the same supplies.
I loooove seeing how people tweak and adapt our projects and make them unique. The addition of white pen faux stitching on this spiderweb is superb.
We did another MemoryDex swap this year, this time making it optional and broke it down into 4 groups instead of 1 massive exchange with 100+ cards.
Back in July my dad and I bought wood for the trays and cut them all into the pieces then I glued them all together. Below is a photo from back in August as I was assembling the MemoryDex trays.
It's so fun to see the variety of cards people make.
I now have the wooden MemoryDex trays in my shop HERE!
I actually drove home Saturday night since the roads were dry and got to sleep in my own bed with my cat Amy curled up in my crook like she does every night :) Nothing like home-sweet-home!
Kicking off the 2nd day!
Andrea first taught a haunted house mini album. I designed the haunted house covers and then Jessica with Color Cast Designs cut them out from shiny black acrylic. Bewitchingly CUTE! You can order them from Jessica's shop HERE.
While Andrea was teaching I got to walk around and observe, chit chat, and help as needed.
Also while Andrea was teaching her layouts class I backed a cut file I designed for the upcoming 12 Days of Holiday Giving with Scrapbook & Cards Today so you'll be able to download it from their blog in December. I backed it with the Holly Jolly Holiday collection by Crate Paper.
I was stealthily watching the Broncos vs Chiefs game on my phone and during lunch there was 1 second left on the clock, we were down 14 to 16 and going for an easy 32 yard field goal - it was a shoo-in and we were going to knock the Chiefs off their 8-0 pedestal! But some how, some way, the kick was blocked and we lost and the Chiefs are still undefeated. It was sooooo disheartening, I fell to the floor in bitter disappointment. I'm still absolutely gutted. But, my dad says he's now a Bo-liever which almost makes up for it. I've already said this but I know Bo Nix will take us to the Superbowl soon!!!
ANYWAY!! :) Andrea then taught her spooktacular layouts class.
Throughout the event we'd hop under the balloons and take pics!
Can't end without saying thank you SO MUCH to all our sponsors for their generous donations!
It was another successful, fun, and memorable weekend!!
We're working on plans for a 2025 event - stay tuned!!!

Halloween Layout by Yui Oku

Saturday, November 9, 2024

Hi scrappy friends! It’s Yui Oku here sharing a new layout using Paige's Tricks & Treats collection and her Halloween cut file!
First I fussy cut the HALLOWEEN letters from Paper 10 and cut out the Halloween title from white cardstock to be about the same size as the letters. I loosely placed the letters underneath the title on a gray cardstock background. The black spiderwebs are made using Paige's metal die from last year but a shrunken cut file would work too! I chose orange, purple, pink, and teal embellishments to match the letters including pieces from the Cardstock StickersEphemera Die Cuts, and Floral Die Cuts. From this layout I hope you are inspired to try Paige's Halloween cut file and pick up her Tricks & Treats collection!
