Hi friends! Kelly Daye here, going back to Halloween 2000 when Jim and I were Carrie and her Prom date from the 1976 horror film of the same name! My layout features Paige’s super cute Tricks & Treats collection and her Monsters from the 13 Halloween Cut Files!
You can learn this chevron background technique from Paige in her Polaroid Frames and Chevrons Virtual Class. After arranging my chevrons vertically, I chain stitched the edges with variegated DMC thread, using all 6 strands. I’m always keen to see the mix of colors transpire as I stitch. I ran my title along the left edge of the chevrons using Puffy Phrase Stickers and a skull Mini Puffy Sticker. I mounted my photo on a large tag from the Ephemera Die Cuts then I added an eyelet, a reinforcement I punched from scrap paper, Washi Tape, and baker's twine from my stash. An old photo has become a fun focal point. A triangle of ephemera clusters is always my goal. A well known technique that helps to take your eye around a layout. I tucked in, layered, and popped up Floral Die Cuts, Mini Puffy Stickers, Ephemera Die Cuts, 12x12 Foam Stickers, Cardstock Stickers, and Enamel Dots. I just keep playing with all-the-pretty-things until I’m happy with the look. The sneaky little black cardstock Monsters found places to hide within the clusters. Finally, from two 12x12 Foam Stickers I used the orange scalloped border on the right edge, I think it balanced out the chevrons nicely. I hope you found some ideas for your own fabulous Halloween layouts today using Paige’s Halloween Cut Files and Tricks & Treats collection!
