Halloween Mini Album by Monique Lowe

Hi creative friends! Monique Lowe here and today I am sharing a cute Halloween mini album featuring Paige's Polaroid Frames from the 20 Halloween Cut Files along with her Tricks & Treats collection. I love that each mini album holds lots of mini scrapbook pages that I can treat as individual little projects - the perfect way to have a mini craft fix when time is short!
To start, I cut the Polaroid Frames from white cardstock and pulled out some of my favorite patterned papers from Tricks & Treats to cut my mini pages to 4x4". If you decide to add in embroidery like I have, be sure to cut a few extra pages to back the embroidered pages so you can hide the reverse side of the stitching.
The first page in my mini album is a sweet embroidered, sequined pumpkin. You can find this super easy template and tutorial in Paige’s Halloween 4x4 Mini Album Class from 2023. I used orange embroidery thread along with translucent pink, orange, and yellow sequins to add shape, color, and shimmer to the pumpkin. I embellished it with cute little pumpkin stickers from the Cardstock Stickers and Mini Puffy Stickers. I backed the embroidered page with Paper 11, machine stitched around the edges, and added on a pale yellow pom-pom trim.
Most of my pages have been created as double pages, with matching patterned paper for both pages, along with coordinating threads, embellishments, and photos, making each partner page visually cohesive in design. For example, to document my twins’ carved pumpkin, I chose the cute pumpkin Polaroid Frame cut file and backed the pumpkins with Paper 7. I slotted my photo behind the frame and stuck it down on one of my precut pages (Paper 3). I used my Sizzix pokey tool to make holes around the outer and inner edges of the frame and used orange embroidery thread to add a chain link stitch to the outer edge and backstitch to the inner edge. For the facing page, I backed my photo with Paper 6 and Paper 8, added machine stitching, and created a little spooky scene using the 12x12 Foam StickersCardstock Stickers, and Ephemera Die Cuts.
One of my favorite double pages includes the "SCARY!" Polaroid Frame. I chose the B-side of Paper 4 for the page background - those spiderwebs were just perfect for stitching! I embroidered one of the spiderwebs using a backstitch before sticking down the cut file. Using the same method as mentioned previously, I embroidered around the cut file using purple embroidery thread and added some purple sequins to the dangling spider. This cut file perfectly framed my embroidered web! With lots of detail on this page, I kept the partner page super simple. I opted for a purple background this time, using Paper 3, and embellished it with two Ephemera Die Cuts, a Foam Sticker, and some tangled threads.
To create my album cover, I used a piece of chipboard cut to 11 inches x 4.5 inches. This allowed for a 2 inch spine but can easily be cut bigger if you’d like to include more pages. I scored the card before folding it and covering it using Paper 12 for the outside and Paper 8 for the inner cover. I punched 4 holes in the spine and used chunky cotton yarn to bind my pages together. I decorated the cover with the gorgeous pumpkins from the Embroidery Kit, the date on the spine using Mini Foam Thickers, and a homemade tassel using a variety of trimmings in all the coordinating colors.
Thank you so much for taking a look through my little album! I hope something you’ve seen has inspired you to get creative, or maybe even make your own little mini! I hope you find a happy moment to get creative with Tricks & Treats and the 20 Halloween Cut Files!
