Feelin' Jolly Layout by Paige Evans

Tuesday, December 3, 2024

It's the 12 Days of Holiday Giving on the Scrapbook & Cards Today Blog and I made a layout for Day 2 featuring the Holly Jolly Holiday collection by Crate Paper and a new Holiday Border cut file I designed which you can download for free on the SCT blog!
I backed my Holiday Border cut file cut from textured white cardstock using some of the papers from the 12x12 paper pad as well as additional patterns found in the boxed cards set. To enhance my page and give it a homespun look, I added hand-stitching details around the ornaments and French knots through the dots using these DMC thread colors:
A 3 x 4″ photo tucked into the ornaments provides a memory captured for a lifetime, all tied together with a pretty poinsettia flower at the top. Other details include a scalloped border cardstock sticker lining the cut file along the top edge, a sprinkling of white acrylic paint as the first layer on the background reminiscent of snow, and popping the cut file with foam squares to create dimension and shadows.
I hope you’ve found some inspiration in my layout today and you’re excited to cut out this ornament border and scrapbook a holiday memory! Have a happy scrappy day!

Lightstrand Layout by Inessa Persekian

Hello, friends! It’s Inessa Persekian here on the blog and I’m so excited to share my latest project with you! Today I’m working with Paige's Sugarplum Wishes collection and her Lightstrand Background from the 25 Christmas Cut Files 2019. This cut file is one of my favorites - I’ve used it before with stitching, but this time I decided to back it with all the gorgeous papers from the collection. PS - all supplies are now linked at the end.
I used the 12x12 Paper Pad to back each lightbulb with different prints and used Paper 4 for the bulb holders. For a bit of dimension, I adhered the cut file with foam dots. Next, I added my photo mat (measuring about 3.5 x 5.5 inches, cut from Paper 4) to tie everything together. For the title, I combined Thickers with elements from the Floral & Snowflake Die Cuts, the Cardstock Stickers, and Foam Stickers. To finish it off, I sprinkled in some sequins and added a few stitches using DMC threads 3609 and 827. I’m thrilled with how this layout came together! It’s such a fun way to kick off the holiday season. I hope it inspires you to dive into your own festive stash. Thanks for stopping by and I’ll see you next time. Have a fabulous day!

Carousel Layout by Heidi Lewis

Monday, December 2, 2024

Hi friends, it's Heidi Lewis here on the blog today to share a Christmas layout made with the Carousel from the 25 Christmas Cut Files 2023 and a mix of Paige's Adventurous and Sugarplum Wishes collections (all supplies are now linked at the end)!
Normally I love working with a single collection, but for this layout I mixed and matched Paige's recent Adventurous collection with last year's Christmas collection called Sugarplum Wishes. Last year I went to a Christmas light display called Luminaria and one of the displays included a reindeer carousel, so the Carousel cut file was perfect for documenting my photo! I backed the cut file with a variety of papers from the Adventurous 12x12 Paper Pad and 12x12 Project Pad. To speed up the backing process, I used punches to cut the basic shapes like circles and stars and used my Cricut to cut the trickier shapes such as the reindeer. The finished cut file was bright and colorful so I picked a white background to keep the layout from becoming too busy. Some subtle ink blending helps the white cut file stand out from the white background. Since the cut file is the star of the show, I kept my embellishments pretty simple. I added Adventurous Enamel Stickers and a few Sugarplum Wishes Cardstock Stickers to the carousel itself. Then I built an embellishment cluster around my photo using a combination of embellishments from the Sugarplum Wishes Floral & Snowflake Die Cuts, Cardstock Stickers, and Sticker Book. I have two titles - the first one is a Cardstock Sticker from Adventurous and the second is a custom title made from Sugarplum Wishes Mini Thickers. A piece of Adventurous Floral Trim added to the bottom of the page helps draw your eye into the layout. When mixing and matching collections, I recommend finding similar colors. For example, both collections have pink, bright green, teal, yellow, and lavender. Combining the old with new is such a great way to bust stash! Have a happy scrappy day!

Joy to the World Double-Page Spread by Paige Evans

Sunday, December 1, 2024

HAPPY DECEMBER!!! We've started decking our halls, there is still snow on the ground, and I'm excited to share more Christmas-themed projects made with my Sugarplum Wishes collection from last year!
This double-page spread features patterned paper circles turned into ornaments that I made for a virtual holiday event with Scrapbook & Cards Today last holiday season.
I create a bunch of different sized circles from the colorful Sugarplum Wishes patterned papers, topped most of them with assorted sizes of round photos, and then scattered them across the background.
To turn them into "ornaments" I placed a border sticker from the top edge to the circles to make them look as if they're dangling.
I used little holiday icons, flowers, bows, and more, to decorate the circles and made the title & various captions with stickers from the collection.
Once all the circles are cut and pasted this spread comes together quickly & easily and I hope you're inspired in some way by it!! Thanks for stopping by and happy holidays!
