Here is a quick & easy, fun & festive card I made with my Sugarplum Wishes collection from last year!
This card is a great way to use up all those paper scraps you don’t want to throw away but never know what to do with! Little squares folded in half to make triangles are the perfect element for paper piecing Christmas trees.
1. Trim a block of green sentiments Paper 4 to 8 ½ x 5 ½” then fold in half to create the card base.
2. Cut a rectangle of teal plaid Paper 3 to 4 ½ x 1” then cut the top edge into waves. Distress the top edge then adhere it to the bottom of the card. Trim off any excess.
3. Add a sentiment cardstock sticker to the top of the card.
4. Punch (16) 1” squares from scraps of patterned paper and fold them all in half diagonally to make triangles.
5. Adhere the triangles in pairs staggered down the card front to paper piece two Christmas trees.
6. Place a yellow star from the cardstock stickers and sticker book at the tops of the trees.
7. To finish, trim off the ends of a gingerbread sentiment die cut and add at the bottoms of the trees for trunks.
Additional ideas: You could use a larger square punch to make one single bigger tree or a smaller square punch to make more smaller trees! If you don’t have square punches you could always just use your paper trimmer. Adapt this same technique onto a 12x12 layout and create a forest of patterned paper trees!!
I made a page in my December Daily 2013 Album with the same folded paper squares technique, only this time I decreased the sizes of the squares as I continued up the trees to make them more realistic!
