Hello creative friends! Monique Lowe here today sharing a joyful New Year layout made with Paige’s Adventurous collection and two of her designs from the 36 New Year Cut Files.
I started with Paper 8 for my background. With mixed media in mind, I prepped the page with a layer of clear gesso. With both cut files cut from white cardstock, I used the Happy New Year Star Cut File as a guide to add a thin layer of white gesso to the background, only lightly covering the area behind the cut file. I spritzed gold shimmer spray, then added some ink blending using Distress Oxide Inks, always waiting for each layer of mixed media to dry. Finally, I used the Sparkles Background Cut File as a stencil along with Nuvo Glimmer Paste to add a bit of extra sparkle. With my background complete, I stuck down the Happy New Year Star Cut File and traced each letter – once onto Paper 15 and a second time onto black cardstock. I hand cut each letter slightly bigger than the trace lines, layered them together, and stuck them down slightly haphazardly to give a sense of movement. I backed my two photos with vellum and Papers 18 and 21 and tucked them into the design. I used two ephemera pieces from the Card Making Kit, along with Mini Thickers and Stickers to create a meaningful subtitle for my layout. Last but not least, I used my mini star punch along with a bunch of Adventurous paper scraps to add a bit of color around the star. These along with a few gold stars and sequins from the Sequins & Trims pack were the perfect finishing touch. Thank you for stopping by to take a look at my layout! I hope your year ahead is filled with lots of happy scrappy moments!
