Hi creative friends! It’s Monique Lowe here and I’m so excited to share my newest layout with you. With Spring in the air, I wanted to capture that fresh, blooming feel using soft pastels, florals, and a touch of mixed media magic. I built my design around Paige's beautiful Flower Wreath Cut File, pairing it with her vibrant and versatile Adventurous collection. Let’s dive into the details!
To start, I prepped a sheet of white cardstock with a thin layer of clear gesso - this step is essential for helping the mixed media layers blend beautifully and minimises the paper warping. Once dry, I placed the Flower Wreath Cut File - cut from white cardstock - on top to use as a guide for my background. I wanted a soft, dreamy effect, so I reached for my Shimmerz sprays in a rainbow of colors. With a mix of water and gentle blending, the colors flowed together, creating a soft & pretty backdrop which peeks through the cut file perfectly. Once the background was completely dry, I adhered the Flower Wreath in place and added machine stitching around it for extra texture and dimension. Next, I backed two black & white photos with layers of tissue paper and Paper 5 for a subtle frame. then positioned them on the bottom left corner of my layout. To bring a bit of movement to my page, I fussy cut butterflies from Paper 19 and arranged them in three loose clusters around the wreath, following a tone-on-tone approach. For added details, I tucked in tabs and tags from the Ephemera Die Cuts and embellished the wreath with a mix of sequins, Enamel Stickers, Mini Puffy Stickers, and a touch of thread. Bringing it all together, I added my title using the Puffy Phrase Stickers. Finally, I tore the bottom left corner of my page off, distressed the edge, and added in a corner of Paper 20, coordinating with colors from that portion of the layout. Thank you so much stopping by today to take a look at my layout using the Flower Wreath Cut File and Adventurous! I hope something you’ve seen here helps inspire your next creative project!
