Hello and welcome creative friends! Monique Lowe here and I’m so excited to share my latest Easter-themed layout with you. It’s full of vibrant colors and playful patterns! I’ve used Paige's Easter Egg cut file with her Blooming Wild collection, adding a splash of rainbow-inspired mixed media for a bright and cheerful design. Let’s take a closer look!
To start, I cut the Easter Egg from white cardstock. I backed each segment with a colorful selection of patterned papers from Blooming Wild, following a rainbow sequence - my favourite color palette! I love the mix of florals and Spring colors these patterned papers added and was eager to include some stitched texture. I turned to my sewing machine and stitched along all the cut file lines for a handmade feel. Next, I used the backed cut file as a template to lightly pencil mark its outline onto a 12x12 sheet of white cardstock, creating a guide for my mixed media. Using the packaging technique, distress crayons, and a touch of water, I built a soft yet vibrant rainbow background to frame the Easter egg. I carefully lined up the colors of my mixed media with the placement of the patterned papers in the egg for a tone-on-tone design. After adhering the Easter egg to the background, I backed two black & white photos with Paper 5 to help them stand out. I embellished around them and along the egg’s edges, using the Floral Die Cuts and Ephemera Die Cuts. To create a visual triangle, I added a third floral cluster at the top of the egg, keeping a tone-on-tone design with the florals and foliage. I added fussy cut butterflies from Paper 16 and a sweet little bird from the Cardstock Stickers, then layered Chipboard Stickers and tiny flowers & hearts from the Puffy Phrase Stickers for extra detail. To finish off my layout, I added in my title and a sweet little ‘lovely day’ Chipboard Round. Thanks for stopping by to check out my layout with the Blooming Wild collection and Easter Egg cut file. I hope it inspires you to get creative and make something special too! Happy crafting!
